my name is lynne huskinson

I'm ready to use my 39 years in Wyoming mines to help the workers and all the people in my district face the challenges of our changing economy
Learn about my top priorities

we're in this together.

For the past four decades, I have made Gillette my home and worked as a coal miner running heavy equipment in the Powder River Basin.

On July 1st 2019, I was laid off and locked out of Blackjewel Eagle Butte Coal Mine along with nearly 600 other coal miners. I made a decision not to return to work because of my strong conviction that my fellow workers and I were mistreated by a corporation that put profit over safety and people. Fortunately, I was somewhat prepared to retire but many of my co-workers were not. For those who have returned to Eagle Butte under the current ownership, I'm afraid the next round of layoffs is coming, and it's only going to get worse.

In February, I spoke out as a citizen lobbyist during the 2020 Wyoming Legislative budget session. It was a turning point in my life and the reason I decided to run for office. I am proud to be joining capable, progressive women from across the state who are seeking elected office in 2020.

For too long, corporate profits have taken priority over Wyoming's people and  natural resouces.

How about a worker for a change?

LYNNE'S TOP PRIORITIES

#1
WYOMING WORKERS

Coal fueled roughly half of the nation's electricity generation as recently as 2008. We need to recognize our coal miners for all of their hard work. Fair transition would ensure job training allowing workers the ability to live and work here in Campbell County.

#2
BANKRUPTCY

Coal-reliant communities are still owed important revenue from coal companies that have gone bankrupt. We are dependent on these funds for our local services.
We need a workable approach that allows for a fair transition.

#3
HELP PEOPLE OF WYOMING

Campbell County is aware that our energy jobs are in trouble. It is time that workers had someone they can rely on to speak up for a fair transition from fossil fuels. We need to ensure that local governments and workers get their fair share when it comes to natural resources mined and drilled in Wyoming.

WHAT MATTERS MOST

#1
PROTECT
WORKERS' RIGHTS

Workers deserve fair and dignified treatment in times of layoffs and other transitions.  Workers deserve collective bargaining.

#2
HELP COAL COMMUNITIES

Coal companies are reducing their workforce due to rapid decline in the coal market. Facing this revenue loss will require all of our creativity and commitment. This has to be a collaboration of all of
our talents communication is the key to understanding each other.

#3
PUBLIC LANDS IN PUBLIC HANDS.

Protecting access to the state's public lands is essential for preserving Wyoming's natural heritage and supporting the state's outdoor recreation industry. Unlocking some of the inaccessible public lands in Wyoming can help grow our outdoor recreation and raise revenue.
